No details yet. My niece has been begging to ride along, and I'm waiting to see which day is best...

They've got a SXS race on Sat.25.

I was looking for a place to ride on Memorial Day but DTOR is cramped enough and a holiday + race might = suck.

I might be in. I was thinking about heading to 491 since it is really close to me, or going and trying out Horseshoe Bend.

Isn't just about anything slammed that weekend? Yeah..but a 1,000 people on 250 acres is miserable...DTOR is tiny

"Sat. June8th: Fishers ATV World will be AT DTOR, plus SRRS and DTOR will be hosting our first SXS HILL CLIMB. Get those sxs's ready for the camera. We are going to postpone the may 25th woods race until july 20th for rotd and use the June 8th hill climb as part of the series"

Straight from the DTOR facebook page. looks like there is not gonna be a race saturday the 25th as it was postponed.

Jeff, we will spend as much time driving there and back as it takes to cover the whole park.....

Jeff, we will spend as much time driving there and back as it takes to cover the whole park.....

To just see the whole park, maybe. It is fairly small, less than 300 acres. Half the size of Haspin.

But he has got some pretty gnarly terrain and a lot of pretty serious hillclimbs. To actually try n run them all, especially with the size group we may have, would likely take a week.

X2 It may be a small park, but there are tons of trails packed in it with some pretty serious stuff.

IMO, you could cover all of haspin in the same time it would take to cover DTOR even though it is half the size.

Where is dtor?

Between Bedford and Carrolton, KY. About halfway to loo-vul.

Side note for those heading down:

Don't go through Carrolton. KY36 is apparently closed just west of town due to construction on the bridge over Locust Creek.

Take I-71 down to 421. Back up to 42 and 3176.

You've probably checked it, but mine did the EXACT same thing a couple months ago, and it was a bad connection at the ballast resistor, on the drivers fenderwell. I ran a jumper wire, bypassing the resistor and running a full 12v to the pump.

No problems since!

Had a trailer tire separate on the way down. No biggie except that I had eleven guys waiting on me.

Then plugged up the jeep's radiator stompin in mudholes, and then overheated trying to charge up the last bit of "Peepee's Revenge." Blew the radiator cap right off. Limped it halfway back to the lot til it started to knock, then 'Yota Nick was nice enough to tow me the rest of the way. Thanks again Nick!

Then five miles from home, the burban just quit. Apparently, it was just out of gas. But I had topped it off before the trip, so either this tank returned about 6mpg (vs 9-10 normally) or somebody tapped the tank in DTOR's lot. I dunno...

Still a helluva good day!

It's worth noting that while the park itself is pretty small, and some of the individual obstacles can be tight, the main trails are wide and clear enough that we travelled with nine rigs all day, on a holiday weekend, and only ran into a couple of bottlenecks.

None of the rush-hour-traffic wheel-n-wait that, personally, drives me nuts...

Ill say absolutely! I think everybody found enough to challenge themselves and their rigs, without anybody feeling left out.

Some people say I'm easily amused, but there's stuff at DTOR that none of us would even try, stuff no street driven rig should...

Robert

best part about DTOR is its variety for such a small park. main trails are great, some intermediate trails, then stuff they is hard for even well built stuff.

for local parks, IMO it is the best in without a long drive to harlan.

even at teh birthday bash, the only bottle neck i ran into was when the tanners were trail riding before the speed hills and had tons of people following them and they kinda of trapped us by "dork hill" for a while.

Yeah, DTOR is a really nice place to go. I like Big Rock, but you spend an awful lot of time driving from one obstacle to another. DTOR has pretty much everything in one area.

Ok..so now you have me interested .. Robert set the next date for the turtle .. And show me these things you speak of.

I'm interested. I may make one of these runs some day

We can definitely do that, if everyone wants to head right back...

Once a month is about enough for me, so maybe the 22nd-23rd of June? Still give us three weeks recovery time before the Main Event and/or Zuki Melt...

As for the show-me, DTOR has a ton of craziness on youtube. I'll try to find you some links later...

I know i am out for a good while, unless i take my quad. Broken axle, plus i am going to start my big project (expect a build thread when i do start). doing an axle swap, cutting off the body and doing a tube cage, 3 link front, 4 link rear.

comanchedude
06-05-2013, 09:52 PM
Yes i did been driving it everyday to make sure, found a wire in the front loom that runs behind the grill it was in the split duct but had a 1/8" abrasion and for some reason the split duct was full of mud?? cant figure that out.. but it was wet and had a almost neon path from the cut..like it just built its on circuit and used it whenever it decided to to short out the system..wild stuff.. still cant figure out the mud??

There's a 90% chance I'll make it. I've got a 2000 mile road trip planned for next week, but I'll be back in time to go wheeling unless something goes really wrong.
