Been performing CPR on a old Trane central air unit for years...start relay one year and capacitor the next ... add freon ...then start the whole process over every five years. It seems to have died this AM and I'm tired of putting money in it.

Unit is 29 years old and was on its last leg 11 years ago when I bought the house..time for a new more efficient piece. All stuff in the house was replaced in 2000 when I installed both a new NG furnace and wood burning add-on.

Can I add just a new outdoor unit without replacing the "A" coil inside?

Anybody here do this kind work or have recommendations ?

Thanks, Jeff

My father in law owns a heating and air company. Donselman heating and cooling. Give him a call.

Thanks Tony!
At 29 yrs old, you won't be able to just replace the outdoor unit. Nothing will be availible to match the 'A' coil.
