We are headed out to Rush again to do our part to make Rush a better offroad park to wheel.

We will spend part of the day Saturday April 11th clearing the end of the trail that we made last year called Hardcore. Then we will scope out a place to start a new trail and clear that one too. The rest of the time we will be wheeling.

Please post up if you are interested in helping out and what dates you plan to attend. If you can bring a chainsaw it would help out a lot.

Some of us will be there Friday around noon.

Going so far...

Jim C - Runoveru2 4/11
Robert - WrenchMonkey 4/10 - 4/12
Mark - Waffle. 4/10 - 4/12
Kevin - 93 Krawler. 4/10 - 4/12
Jim B - beer_googles_009 - 4/10 - 4/12
Tony - Flint - 4/11 - 4/12
Scott - 94Dodge Truggy

Wish I could go again this year, but I am planning on being out there the following weekend. I would like to get some directions to the trail that you guys made last year, and are finishing this year. The pics of it looked great, but I don't think we ever found it when we went back.

Bummer... I do have the GPS coordinates if that will help. Maybe we can get a sign and mark it when we are there.

What do you mean? Harlans trails are marked very well. Rush has the main trails marked ( you can see a map on their website). But it is hard to find the good stuff by looking at the map as only a few named obsticles/trails are shown on the map. I'm sure the maps will get better over time. The park has only been open a few years.

93 Krawler
03-04-2015, 07:28 PM
What I meant was, at Harlan it seems that most of the stuff far away is hard to get to. Stuff like lions den and mason jar etc. Seems like we're always stopping and turning around wondering what trail we're on and gettin lost lol. Its better than it used to be for sure, just maybe a few forks could use aditional signs. Or mayb its just the map guy idk lol.

Some of the new stuff isn't on the map yet. The big difference at Rush is you don't have to drive ten miles out of your way to get around a mountain. With 7000 acres you still have some driving to do, but not as much as Harlan. There has been new trails every time we've gone.

Jim, we need to find the ravine we tried to get in before. That will be a good trail if we can get in...

I'll bring a chain saw. It's a Stihl 14" but I could bring something bigger. I doubt you want to cut anything that big.

There is a Pilot truck stop for fuel and food about 10 minutes drive from the park. You'll pass it on the way to Rush. I don't have a gas gage so I top off on the way in, wheel all day and then fill up again at the end of the day if I camp.

Speaking of camping, will anyone be spending the night/ nights?

I will be there saturday, have you guys talked to Mark about a better entrance for hardcore, I know the last time that he and I talked about it the reason it wasn't marked was because of having to go through the creek for the entrance

He mentioned that last time we were there. I don't see any other way but through the creek. Most of the ravines have a creek below them. If we can't drive through the creek to get to the ravines, then that leaves out a lot of good trails to make.

There is plenty for all rigs at rush. If you want more of a.challenge pick out the line and make it a trail. I know of a new exit at the end if hard-core that had your name on it Mark. Lots of bouncers have been to rush. There is plenty there to play on !

If I get there late and you are on the trail on what CB channel can I catch you?

Wish I could have gone but both boys had their first flag football game on Saturday. It's actually a good thing because the tow rig broke down on Friday. Decided to drive it to work as it's been sitting in the garage for awhile. Got in it to drive home and it started clanging, banging, and binding up bad. Borrowed another truck to pull my trailer and hauled it home this weekend. Pretty sure the right front wheel bearing assembly (unit bearing) is completely shot. There is a LOT of play when wiggling that tire and it's not in the balljoints or anything else.

You were blessed with luck then, ain't nothing like packing up your rig and all your gear with a big smile heading out to wheel and have something like that happen... I know someone who had luck like that a few months back that was pretty costly

We cut a new entrance to the trail and put a small marker (only thing we had on us) on a limb. It's on trail 2. We also cut a trail on the 3 pole side down around the trail that cupcake is on.

I will try to find it and wear it in a little more. I looked at the online map, and it doesn't show a trail called cupcake. Is cupcake anywhere near rock god? We scouted a few spots in that area back in the fall that looked very promising.

I would like to get some directions to the trail that you guys made last year, and are finishing this year. The pics of it looked great, but I don't think we ever found it when we went back.

Okay, here's what I've got:

The entrance to HardCORE is off of the south loop of Trail 2, about 1000' west of Trail 36.

It runs about 1200' north, and ends at Trail 30, about 250' from where 30 meets the north loop of Trail 2.

Entrance: 38.324920, -82.761660
Exit: 38.328260, -82.760810

Glad you found it. Getting around the rock mid way up the exit hill can get very challenging with a little water added.
We scoped out some different ways to exit. Next time we're there, we plan on clearing the paths straight ahead, instead of right to the exit. That should make it interesting for sure.
