I'm going to start scouting some more harder stuff for full size rigs again and was wondering if anyone was interested in coming down and helping me scout. I have my 4 seat rzr so you wouldn't have to bring a rig unless you just wanted to. Also, we've been discussing opening up some more hill climbs off the HardCORE trail.

Pretty much no way I can get down there before the snow hits but I've been planning on coming down and checking the place out and I've heard that there's not enough hard stuff its either easy or all Hill Climb so I haven't came down yet I would be up for scouting and helping cut some good stuff.

Most of the club is busy for the rest of October. If can get a few guys with rzrs to go with me, I would go sometime in November.

If you go, I know you will have fun. We do... There is still a lot of potential.

There's several potential areas with class 4 and 5 obstacles. Hard part is getting it cleared. Lots of trees. Do it right and it'll be killer. Do it wrong and they'll just end up being boring.

That's why I'm asking. We have enough dozed trails, I'm wanting to create some harder trails to attract more offroad clubs.

With hatfield.mccoys.lost of the ivy branch trailhead. Rush is now the closes large park to me at 3 hrs away.

I no longer have a real excuse not to come down other than I just had a baby.

I have a 4wheeler I could bring down and just scout/cut at some point just not sure when.

I love cutting trails as much as I love riding them

If it falls before she gets of maternity leave, and on a weekend my other kid doesn't have something school related, I may attempt a trip down in nov.

November is a good month for me too. I have two chain saws and can bring them and have a couple of short runs in mind... no dozer required.

No dozer is good. I'd rather put in tough physical work than use a dozer for a trail

So how is trail cutting working down there? Is core a designated club that's allowed to cut or are they ok with people randomly cutting trails

WrenchMonkey
10-21-2015, 11:49 AM
Mark (mastiff above) has been our point of contact. I don't want to speak for him, but I don't think it's necessarily a CORE exclusive thing, but I also don't think they want people randomly cutting stuff.

Hit him up for a more official answer.

The park owner doesn't want people just blazing trails everywhere. If you guys are interested in coming down and cutting trails, get ahold me and we can meet up.

...a new and much more difficult exit to hardcore. It goes left up out of the ravine and through some rocks... Big question is what it looks like up top and making a connection somewhere...

Trail 2 runs along the top of that other ridge. Should be an easy connection to make...

This is the current exit, to the right, to Trail 30. You can see that veering left will take you right up to the topside of Trail 2.

Definitely will. Letting the users cut trails in a controlled manner is great buissness imo.

Boy, it would have been nice to have the map with the exit of HardCORE on it. We ended up walking the trail to figure out where the exit was. Lol. As far as trail clearing, I'd like to see the harder exit cut on HardCORE and maybe work on another trail we found today. This one should be easy to knock out, just a bunch of saplings. I'll try and post the pics on here for the guys who don't have Facebook.

If I make it, it'll just be a day trip for me.

But my pinion bearing seized up on my way to work, so I've got work to do before wheeling again.

We'll see, I should make it.

And maybe:
Ian, drivermod

Should I post an open-invite event on facebook? We may catch some who don't get on the forum much, but we may also get some newbies who need more help than they offer. (To be clear, that's normally fine, but this is specifically a working trip...)

Hey Rob, would you be up for having a passenger?

Sorry, man. I don't know how I missed this. I've offered my seat to Jim.

Can't get my steering fixed, I blew up 2 pumps this weekend. Something is seriously wrong. Looks like the rzr is my ride this weekend.

Where are you guys camping? I'll probably get there around 9 am. Since were are doing trail work, is there a reduced entry fee? Not really concerned either way just wondering if I should mention that I'm with CORE at the office.

BTW, if anyone wants to go down just for the day you are welcome to ride with me. I'll be leaving Union, KY around 6 am. I could meet you at the park and ride in off rt 9 near Alexandria.

Sadly, my wife is not feeling well but well enough for me to wheel a day. I will be there Saturday morning 0930 - 1000. I'll be bringing my chain saw, 16" Stihl, which will be big enough for anything we should be cutting. But, I will not be staying overnight like I had hoped. Unless I break, I'll be leaving at dark.

Follow the trail on the right through the parking lot and down the hill. If we aren't at the bottom, we are down the trail more at the area Mark was talking about.
You can mention you're with CORE cutting trails and see if they do.

Another good day of trail cutting at Rush:

We cleared a trail that was started by a few others last weekend called Tater's headache. Including adding a big climb over a rock formation.
http://i969.photobucket.com/albums/ae177/bsch_jm/rush%20offroad%20october%202015/20151114_131814_zpsuzihyyqo.jpg

This is a big boy trail for sure. It claimed 2 Dana 60 Shafts on the day. There is plenty of opportunity to add more to this trail as well.

Then we cleared 2 new exits to hardcore and added signs at the entrance and exit. One is to the left of the current exit. It is a rocky climb (small rocks). Right now it is pretty easy but vehicle traffic could change that. The second exit is 3/4 way up the trail up a wash on the left. There is a nice rock V to climb. Hopefully this trail gets some more traffic and further exposes the rocks.

Sunday we went out to the 3 pole side and re-cleared Quarterpipe (aka Blue Waffle) The rocks are really starting to show through the face here. it's getting better no longer just a throttle fest as the rocks show through the dirt.

I only took a few pictures:
