Some of our regulars, all up for discussion:

Maybe rush again at Labor Day

New suggestions:

So, what would you like to add, delete, or change?

I would like to go back to Windrock in 2018, Jim Busch along with a few others said that Golden Mountain is a pretty good place to Wheel, would like to possibly check that out also..... I will have more time available to take off to wheel in 2018

I'd like to do Windrock, but no point in taking the rzr to GM. Remember, I'm down to just the rzr this year. I'd do the Badlands for a couple days. Just blows being done by 7 on Fri-Sat.

Now the hard part:
When?

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I think it would serve the club well to have two rides most months. One to Harlan, Windrock or Golden Mountain. Another to Haspin, DTOR or Mud Madness.
We don't want to hold the big dogs back, and we don't want to exclude the newer guys. So we'll all go do our own thing, and meet back up at, say, Rush, a few times a year.
S'all good.

Doubt I will attend the badlands 2018, Mark isn't allowed in with his Rig, Kevin down to his Razor "better be for a short time"......which would leave it down to Jim Busch and I unless someone else commits to go in a big rig, not real crazy about their restrictions on Riding hours there for the travel time and admission fee to the park for the weekend.

Hummm....that will be a tough 1, have to make sure out Rigs are not broke all the time to make the most of it..ha ha, I will look at my Schedule for 2018 and post up what weekends I have available for these trips, I know most people can take off whatever weekends they want, I cannot so I will put out what works for me and see if that works for people for these trips.

It was the Smiths that suggested it, so that gets you four rigs, if that makes the difference. I know a lot of guys have issue with their hours though.

It's something to bring up in tonight's discussion... But I don't think the smaller rigs hold us up. Yeah it may take some extra tries to get up a hill that the bigger rigs walk up.. But I'm all about socializing with the group. I like having everyone there from the club, no matter how many people show up and what size rig you have.

And what about maybe going down to Alabama? I know my dad went there a few years ago. It looked like a great place to wheel... Although it's a long trip to get there. Idk what the place is called either.

As to badlands, it looks like the rules might have changed, idk. It states that all suv's/4x4's must be registered and insured according to your state law. No sandrails or dune buggies. What does mine more closely match? Doesn't matter, the 7pm park close is a deal breaker anyway when it doesn't even get dark until 9pm in the summer.
The rules haven't changed. Most of the people that go there aren't legal. Rock buggies are allowed, just like the ultra 4's race there.
Yes, their hours are stupid. If I were to go there again, it would be on a fri-sat, and not in the summer. February or March maybe. Cooking in the sun from 7-10 sucks bad in the summer.

What I was trying to get at was..... there will likely be (or should be) some overlap regarding planned trips depending on which group you fit into and which direction the group will head.

Not to beat a dead horse.... But I believe the badlands has always had those rules written that way. I have seen other dedicated bouncer and ultra 4 buggies there many times. I'm sure you would have not issues taking your rig to the that park. If we decide to do badlands and pick a date. I think I can arrange a trip to Mission Impossible for the club.

I totally agree, in the past we have had rigs break in mid afternoon and by the time we got everything fixed and tried to get back on the trail we are warned at the gate we are getting ready to close and then people to find us on 4 wheelers telling us to head out Long before they close..."they are not friendly about this"...I guess I would not be friendly about it either, I'm sure too many people have ignored the rules which has made it the way it is now.....Badlands will be at the bottom of my priority list for wheeling ANY time of the year.

The former owner of the Badlands private land a few miles from the park. It is about 400 acres and a full day of wheeling if you hit the good stuff. Back in the day they held a rock crawling competitions on that land, it has some mild trails and some extreme stuff. I can share some pictures and video with you at the meeting tonight if you want to see what it is like.

ADDING Golden Mountain Offroad for 2018 Schedule for August 2nd -5th...

Also, what about Ivy Branch? Pretty large park and about 4hrs from Cincy.
Julian Rd, Julian, WV 25529
Or Hollerwood Offroad Adventure?

June 14-17 - Windrock, Oliver Springs TN
Club Cookout either before or after in June
July 4th - Rush?
July (21-22?) Miami Valley Invitational
August 9th - 12th - Golden Mountain, Sparta TN
Sept 1-3 - Labor Day - Rush
Oct 6-7th? - Harlan, KY Fall Crawl
Oct 20-21 - CORE Tour 2018

Not til just now, but 2.5 hours for 300 acres is going to require some salesmanship...
Edit: Two different websites give two different addresses, rates, descriptions, and areas. Maybe 600 acres?

You can still wheel it, sort of how slade currently is. But some people are not.comfy with that
As far as bear wallow, yes you have to have a helmet on even in a jeep. But you can get away with running a hard shell skate helmet. Rules say dot but they dont check or enforce it. As long as it looks like an axel helmet your are good.
Both places have some knarly rock trails

For February list the Groundhog run like it has been in the past for Feb 2nd -4th weekend ?
It looks like March in the past most of the time is a non wheeling month..maybe keep it that way ?
How about Rush Trail clearing run for April 20th - 22nd.
This should fill in the blanks if no one has any more suggestions or objections to the current schedule.

I do believe Chris Hodgie says he knows the owner and we can actually reserve a shelter and show up on the day(s) we choose to wheel vs the open/ closed schedule. I know this is a long ways away but want to put that out there for people that may be I interested in this trip. Due to the pics and discussion I had with you and other people like Hodgie I am very interested in hitting this in 2018.

Last year it was pushed back to SuperBowl Sunday. I left it off this year, in case we were going to try to do a winter Rush trip, as was discussed.
It looks like March in the past most of the time is a non wheeling month..maybe keep it that way ?
I'd rather do March than February...
How about Rush Trail clearing run for April 20th - 22nd...
And I'd rather do April than March. That'd be great with me, but there was talk of trying to do trail work before the trees filled back in.
Me personally, I'd rather deal with leaves than snow.
And I'd still like to try to get to Rich's, but that'll depend on when's good for him...

We went to Golden Mountain about a month ago. That place rocks. I took the rzr as a spare. There are a lot of trails that are fine fer a rzr, just not the most challenging ones. It would be worth the trip, even with just a rzr. Had a blast there and really looking forward to going back. A couple of rigs in our group were just on 35s and were able to take all the trails, just not the big ledges and rocks. Didn't hold anybody back.

I was out that way picking up another rig last week, and while it is farther than Rush, it seemed like a much easier drive...
