View Full Version : Haspin Hangover, New Year's Day

This has (for some crazy reason) become an annual favorite.
We brave the cold to escape our cabin fever, and blow off the last of the holiday stress.
As always, it's an open invitation to any all. But since it's guaranteed to be either frozen, or muddy, or both; good tires and tow points are really essential.
We can meet at Harrison Remke (on New Haven Rd) about nine, to put us at the park about ten.
Hopefully Haspin's cafeteria will be serving a hot lunch, but plan to bring something else just in case. I'll have my microwave you can use if you're nice to me...

Holy Schmidt. I posted it a little different on Facebook, and I guess a little difference can have a huge effect.
In under 24 hours, we're showing 30 people that plan to go and over 300 more "interested."
I sure hope the kitchen is open, cause 300 of you nuts are not going to use my little microwave!

I did talk to the guys at Haspin. Normally, the restaurant is closed for the off season.
I explained that we were coming with a good size group, and that (a) the crowd's business would probably make it worth their while, and (b) I know we'd all really appreciate a hot lunch.
They said they'd talk to management and let me know...
In other news, FB is up to 36 "going" and 549 "interested."
That may mean we have a dozen actually show up, but it'll still be a really good group for the Hangover...

They may offer the pizza deal, where the fire fighters bring up some local pizza and they receive the extra money to go towards a cause. Or vice versa, Haspin looks to make profit off of that.

I haven't heard of that one before. Long as they have a way to keep it hot, I'd be fine with that.
We'll see.

It was a special they ran for one day. I believe we went on a Sunday last year to officially test my dads Jeggy when it was first assembled.

Hey guys! Been awhile but I'm thinking about trying to make this one. Depends on what I get done on the ole heap or on what I find when I start going through it to get her ready.

Looking like a lot of rain Monday, so Tuesday will probably be a mess.
But the response has just gone crazy. It'll be very interesting to see just how many people show up...

Yep, great turnout, and a great time!
I mostly got pics of the parking lot, which was packed. There had to be 150 tow rigs there...

We did get a little wheeling in! Didn't cover a lot of ground, it was about as sloppy as we expected. But they smiles-per-mile ratio was off the charts...

Those were all the pics I got, but like I said, the place was packed. I didn't know how many came for our Hangover, versus just happened to be there. So I asked if anyone else got any.
Here are twenty random pics, out of the seventy replies we got...

I was there from about 9-5. Surprised I didn't come across anybody. I had a bunch of buddies with XJ's & a 4Runner out there.

Only you could wheel there for 8 hours and not find the CORE group...

We went down to the right, past the sand pits and up the creek toward Sami Hill. If he was playing by Devil's Backbone, it wouldn't have been hard to miss us.
Besides, me n Ratliff were the only real CORE folks there...

This is true, we stayed on the far opposite side the entire day. I wanted to head over that way but between one XJ popping a headgasket & another tearing a control arm off the axle housing we didn't get to cover a lot of ground.
