How much ridding is available in Wellsville?

Last I heard they where shutting that place down... I had a great time when I went with my rail a couple years ago.

they said it was like 1500 acres still. nick talked to the owner/ operator guy of the place for like 45 minutes the other day (he wanted to make sure he wasn't wasting his money going, theres' like 8 rigs going, nick is pulling 3 rigs on his truck). the guy told him he would have no problem finding stuff he couldn't do in his 50'' tire 5 ton axled pile. i thought it was closed too, but apparently it is still open. i've never been there.

Your more than welcome to join us. We'll be meeting @ Harrison Biggs in the AM. The time is undecided as of yet.

where is harrison biggs? i'm haspin dumb, just saw shoe tree for the first time last time i was there, and i've been going there for about 7 years now. i don't know the name of anything except for devil's backbone i've got a few things to do to the jeep before i can take it, reseat the inner beads or put a new set of tires on the rear (already have the new ones grooved, but i hate taking beadlocks apart), the current tires are leaking like a siv, replace all my lower control arms (new ones already made, just need to swap them out), and weld up all new spring retainers, so a good couple of hours worth of work to get it ready. i should have plenty of time friday and saturday though.

i'll probably take you up on the offer to ride with ya'll, i'm down for anything there.

Usually meet just inside the main gate next to a Tree called the "Shade Tree" on the right. Sounds like were meeting 10ish or so if we leave Harrison around 9:15 or so.

It's going to be packed the weekend.

We ended up there Sunday. Didn't find any CORE guys or you mckeddie. Had a crazy flop. Ran some pretty crazy stuff at Redbird from 9 in the morning to 11 at night on Saturday. Decided to head towards home due to some issues (1 yj not running right, fuel pump or electrical, mine had leaking clutch master, and another with some brake issues). Decided to stop at Haspin on the way home, since I had only been a passenger there many many years ago. Within 10 minutes of getting there I straddle a washout and easily went down a hill friend behind me attempted the same but wheel slide into washout and flopped him nice and easy. It was just crazy that we did lots of crazy stuff that we normally would not do all day on Saturday at Redbird and then get on something little and it ends up on it's side. He was fine and jeep really suffered little damage. Rode the rest of the day and got our fill of dust!

Super crowded, hot and dustier than the sahara desert. I rode with Wilson1010 in is XJ. We had 5 or so in or group all from TS and one from Muddy Buddy's. Fun day but we did manage ripping the driver's side LCA off the axle :D At least we were done for the day and almost to the main lot when it happend. Off to the welding shop for the XJ.

Kind of after the fact, but just for future reference since our club goes to Wellsville on a semi-regular basis (it's a lot closer for us - Columbus area). The local club just had a big event over Labor day, and usually have events just about every holiday weekend.

Yes, it's still open. A year or two ago the land was going to be bought to turn into a port or something (it's basically right on the river) but something happened and nothing has progressed. I've heard the rumor that the EPA got involved and put everything on hold (how often do you hear about the EPA actually benefitting wheeling?). There are at least two "land owners" on each side of the land where the trails are that have campgrounds, and they kind of share the land between them.

No maps or anything, and maybe a trail sign here and there, so if you don't know your way around it can be a long day. There are some really difficult trails and obstacles in the area if you can find them. I'm friends with a local who runs a K5 buggy on beadlocked 44's and stuff challenges him, and rock buggy guys on Pirate4x4 go there occassionallly also.
