Curse you discrasing jeeps like this! How nice is this machine and does it work well? :D I can post a pic up for you if you need me to.

I've been too ashamed of it's noseless wonder to post a pic as of yet. The passenger side hood hinge ripped out when I had to jump start it. The hinge pin froze and !@%#@%$^% ensued:D The Optima that it had was DEAD. Almost got it fixed. Here are a couple of teasers.

Scott A. I'll talk to you tonight and see if you have a couple of things that this thing desperately needs.

I'll give you a key and a jacket:D The top is still too stiff to install

In all reality, it's not licensed and probably won't be

Updates. Just a little progress at a time.

Even after taking the picture, I did more. I took off the fender flares and began to trim for clearance.

I said I took'em OFF. Fronts disappear, rears go back on a jeep. Then sawzall and grinder go to Suzuki:evilgrin: Gotta love the mechanical clearance! :)

wheelin this long weekend?

Hope Springs Hauler
05-24-2010, 10:17 AM
:( No

Family visits since some are not doing well.

On the Upside, I got a good laugh yesterday. I disconnected everything from the rear axle and rolled it out completely behind the body and it was a 120"WB:rolleyes: Did this so I could remove brackets without laying on my back.

9/26 - Update

Rear suspension substantially finished. I stuck stock tj coils in to move it. The spring rate is great however, the coils are about 4-5" too tall.

Once I cleaned up in the garage some, I put the squirrel back inside and it promptly thanked me by puking more gear oil on the floor.

Since I got so much done, I must be ready to leave for work again.

I decided to adjust the front pinion angle and everything that goes with it. So with some help, we turned the squirrel around and I removed the front axle.

Saturday, I got the new intake manifold put on, the adapter completed and the propane carb installed. I also removed the computer and associated wiring. Then on Sunday afternoon, I removed the old spring perches and welded on the new ones. (The size difference is amazing  and they ought to help with the spring wrap that I was getting.)

http://www.cincyoffroad.com/gallery/files/3/3/2/spring_perch.jpg

The axle now needs to be disassembled so the the cut and turn on the knuckles can be done. I also need to rebuild the vacuum lockoff because the sami ran with no vacuum applied to the VFF-30

Hope Springs Hauler
04-06-2011, 02:34 PM
Cut and turn is now done.
Ordered Longfields and other axle rebuild components.
Cut the front fenders for clearance.

Now I've gotta get on plumbing the rear brakes, making a rear driveshaft, rebuilding the propane vaporizer and lockoff and finally make some inner fenders to seal up the body. I'm getting closer and feeling better about it.

Brakes are plumbed. Longfields are installed. Fenders are cut. Propane is installed. Driveshaft is made.

Now I guess I get to got to Zukimelt without a winch as the motor is burned up on mine:mad: I installed the solenoids and wiring last night and nothing. Solenoids click, voltage is at the terminals at the motor and I get nothing. Ramsey troubleshooting says........bad motor:mad:

Pull the motor apart and take a look. My Ramsey had the same issue after sitting for awhile. Pulled the motor apart and it had enough corrosion on it to keep from working. Cleaned everything and reassembled and it's been fine for years now.

Never had a winch apart before and limited experience with electic motors, but had it apart, cleaned, and back on and working in an hour.

Thanks. It took long enough, but working out of town puts a damper on the personal life. Photos from Zukimelt when I get back.
