I am trying to decide on which axle to use in a 2006 jeep rubicon unlimited. This jeep will see a decent amount of road use as well as serious rock crawling. Lift will be 5-6" and tires will be 37 to 39's. Should I keep the stock 44's and upgrade the shafts or throw in dana 60's? What do you think and why? Thanks in advance!

I vote for the 60. I know a bit about you and you will end up with the 39s. Also, the Rubicon 44 has 30 ends (Unit bearings, BJ, etc)
Plus, depending on the timing, I could use it in the front of my YJ :D Oh and the NP241OR when you get another stak:eek:

what are the 44's worth? rear needs to be checked out but so far I would say the passengers side axle shaft flange is bent.

I really have no idea. I am focusing on the Sami build first. Then a comfy street and trail rig.

I would not push over 37's with the stock 44's! Even then you may want better shafts and u-joints if your lookin at heavy weight 37's. 39's on 44's = broken junk every trip.

Suprised to see you ask this question. Go for the 60. Throw in some spicer 35 outers and call it done. I'm sure you have some spare 60 parts laying around too.

It about killed me twice and took alot of life off the old dodge! Lots of stories for sure after being in or next to the truck for 35 hours running non stop. I will never do that again. Atleast not anytime soon.

I have a set of matching rearends from a '99 F-350 if your interested. All wheel disc brakes, lockout hubs, 3:70 gears, brake lines all there and some steering components. Not a kngpin. Was going to build a rig before I bought mine last year.

Rear is likely a Sterling and the front is either a 50 or a 60. Srw got a 50 drw got a 60. Metric bolt pattern but stout axles. I have a set of u bolts, shocks and possibly some steering stuff from a drw F-350

It is a single rear.
My plan was to do a Cherokee build with them at the time. If I decide to go through with it, I may contact you for some steering components if your selling.
