The Fall fire department fundraiser ride is on Sept 18th, meeting at the ZOE firehouse about 9 am, LEAVING for the trails at 10 am. The money raised will help pay for the day to day expenses incurred by the volunteer fire department that covers much of the areas we ride at Slade. The ride will be on some private land, as well as National forest lands as always. There is a cookout afterwards at the end of the day, and a $20 donation per rig is requested. These are great rides, supporting a great cause, so come out and be a part of it.

I've never been to slade before, but I've heard good things. Can you tell me a little more about this event? How well built are the rigs? How many rigs? etc. I'm not worried about keeping up but I have a buddy with a pretty stock 85 yota.
They have 3 different groups at least. Ranges from easy to extreme wouldn't suggest anything close to stock goin extreme. Any 4x4 is capable just have to go with the group that fits.

This link will give you a small idea of what to expect. I wouldn't call it extreme, but it can give you problems.
Like he said, there will be different groups hitting various areas. And there are a few bypass trails around some difficult trails.
Bring 'em down, more the merrier.

Didn't want to sound lika sissy!! Climbed upper staircase Memorial weekend, it was a hell of an experience. I live here so I know what to expect, seen it all on dirtbikes growing up. Haven't taken the truck everywheres yet, still wanting a cage and a front locker.
You gonna make the trip?

My sami is a real trailer queen, will there be a lot of road driving?
yes i will be there. I bent my steering last 2 fire department rides no other times through the year on the same stuff and worse. hope luck is better this time. there is prolly 5 miles of blacktop depending on way in and out but most don't do good on blacktop so it is a slow pace.

I'm trying to make it. A little setback but should have another transfer in tomorrow. Hopefully I don't have to work his weekend.
Anyone else planning the trip?

They won't run with the trucks, but last time they had a separate guide and group for four wheelers/sidexsides. I will make a call to find out if they are doing that again.

That was my first time at Slade and I really liked it. We all had a great time and ran a lot of trails for having 14 rigs in our group. The 2 main trails we hit were Carb Hill and Hair Pin with some smaller stuff in the morning. We were waiting in line for a trail late in the day but the group in front of us had a breakdown so we went on to another trail.
I thought it was a great place for a Jeep on 33's or 35's. We are going to go down in a month or two and rent a cabin. I'll post up some pictures in a little while.
