Hi everyone.I am new to offroading in a vehicle. I own a 1991 Samurai w/fuel injection with a SPOA Kit sitting on 33s etc and lost a drive shaft while driving on the street. I purchased this vehicle already trail ready or so I thought. I could not recover the driveshaft and need to replace it. Any suggestions?

If you don't have any luck here you might try Gotmudd website. Samurai guy's hang out there and stuff goes fairly cheap.

B & T joint and shaft in milford...

Ford quoted me $300 to pop a ujoint in the axleshaft of my F250.

B&T did it for $80.

That made me happy.

Why didnt you do it?

Damn thing's as big around as a loaf of bread, there's no way it'd fit in my vise.

Besides, a cheap "brute force" joint was like $35, the Timkin they put in was $50.

It was just $25 labor, and then tax.

ya b&t made me a rear shaft for my sammi, used a scout front shaft that i had laying around so it has beefier u-joints and they machined new flange yokes for me when they did it to fit my stock sammi t case and axle flanges, did it all in a day, picked it up from my work in the am and returned it to my work in the pm before i left for the day all for $165 :beers:

Two things... A 1410 u-joint (I'm assuming that's what it was) is twigs and toothpicks compared to the Rockwell junk... the endcap is as big around as a loaf of bread!!

And not to start another argument, but I've also always been told that pressing in a vise/press is less favorable to a BFH because it's easier to bend ears or get tweaked in the press....

Any thoughts?

If that happens, get better sockets. I mean collets :D
I find the finesse of a press tends to reshape less things.

when i use a BFH the needle bearings come out, never fails to piss me off and usually $41+ start flying :o i prefer a press/ vise much less of a headache for me.

I do both: Squeeze it tight, then tap the side to get it to move.

Works for me.

A couple of other items that help with the assembly is to lightly clean the holes with some emerypaper and spray....just enough to remove the rust and shine the holes up some. This really helps the cups slide in when using a vise or press. Most important start the cups straight with the holes and don't forget to spray everything down first.A little detail goes a long way.

Not sure if they are open. Drove past the shop on 28 a few weeks ago and it looked like it was closed up.

On 28? The place I went to was around the corner, on Branch Hill-Guinea Pike.

They just did my other shaft in the middle of April.

They are closed weekends, though.
