ok, the last couple of oil changes I've done myself and I noticed that my engine was eating about 2 quarts every 1500 miles or so. I took it to the dealer to do a comsumption test, and of course they got me for an oil change to have everthing to thier specs. Here is the question.....Is there a difference between a Mopar oil filter and a Fram filter? They did the oil chage a couple days before the CORE Tour and since then I have put on about 2600 miles and it has not lost a drop. WTF Any thoughts?:confused::confused:

How would the filter make you burn oil?

My 2005 Envoy Denali has a 5.3 and uses about a quart every 1000 miles. Doesn't leak or smoke. I've used AC & fram filters and it still loses oil. My 2007 van has the 5.3 in it and it never uses a drop of oil.

With the JK motor from what I have read is that the motor could have been built in one of 2 plants. One in Mexico and the other in the states. Mexico is not the plant of choice. All the information I have read states to run 10W30 synthetic to fix the problem. I have 10W30 full synthetic Mobil 1 in mine and after wheeling, towing a 25 ft. pontoon boat and red light/green light launches the level is steady. I have heard many stories of the dealerships ways to stop oil consumption and would suggest looking into the problem without their help! Come wheeling at the "hangover run" to fix what ales it! :beers:

Just thought that it may be the filter cause that was the only difference of me changing it and them changing it. Unless they put 10w in instead of 5w. They changed the pcv valve a few months ago but that didn't help either. I guess when you go in and say you want an oil consumption test started they do something tricky so you don't come back.
