Just wondering... my cj has the straight 6. I highly doubt this but I'm wondering if a 304 will bolt to my trans? Only asking cause I have a spankin new trans that has gears n. Super clutch basically its built for offroad only. But I want more power lol.

Will bolt right up. 258, 204, 360, 401, all same bolt pattern.

Also my welder doesn't really have the balls to weld 1/8th inch to 1/4 steel to fix my frame. Its rusted out at the back leaf springs so if any one wants to make some money ill bring it buy n some cash to have some one weld in my plates.

All AMC straight 6 and V8's have the same bell housing pattern.

Ohhh noo wayy man I have a built 360 out of a drag car. It will bolt right up???? Any engine with "built" or "race" in the description will kill a D30/model20 .. Unless you have more in the drivetrain I'd stick with the 258.

I've got a 258 in my CJ7. It has the Weber Redline Carb, an aftermarket cam (but the guy I bought it from didn't know the specs of the cam he said Roy Carl did all the work), with an HEI. It makes some nice power. I do have a complete glass body though and I'm turning 35" boggers.
I will say running a 360 is a totally different animal. My brother did the same actually, took a 258 CJ7 Laredo and dropped a 360 in no problem. It was a beast. He did have to bend the headers a little to get them to fit properly but that was it.

A stock 360/304 has way less actual power than you think it does. Now if the motor is built out of some kind of racecar, that's a different story.

304 is a turd,, I would rather have the 6, more room to link it etc

The right side frame mount for the I6 & V8 is the same, the left one is not... but you can find directions for modding it.
These mounts are notoriously weak even with stock power. M.O.R.E. mounts or one of the other aftermarket companies would probably be a good investment.

If I were doing a motor swap, I would NEVER reuse any kind of stock mount... there are too many cheap, strong alternatives out there.

The frame is horrible yet but has just now rusted threw on the sides its completey savable. Where you from ill bring it by.
Also I'm not running the stock trans. Its a 5speed that's been geard and the clutch came from drews for crawlin. I was told the trans came out of a truck or somthing from the guy I got it from he said he had some guy in ky build the trans for him. However I have a stock trans that's brand new that I wanna bolt to the 304 or 360. I also have dana 60s n dana 44s that r goin under it when this swap happends! I may use the trans in it now the guy gave me a receipt it was a stripped it bone n fully redone for crawlin my only issue with using it is the shear fact its gear way way way low i in 2wd I take off in 3rd with no problems and I'm just wondering with all the power 360 if I'm just gonna tear **** up or whatever.
