knuckles out of a 70s chevy
The 78 k20 ball joints I picked up press in there nice and snug but when I put it on the lower one is to long and hits the u joint..so I put the original wagoneer "low profile" nut on there and did some trimming and it cleared.
But then I relised the top ball joint will not pull through the d44 C. It lackes about a 3/8 inch of going up all the way. Also the shaft comes out at an angle which I figure would just wear out my inner seals that much faster and possibly cause some carrier strain and damage. I could have the C drilled out to fit but its on the jeep and the hole is tapered and the last thing I want to do is take it off and spend more money.
Also I spent some time at the parts store comparing what I had to some other ball joints from other vehicles..no worky
The right ball joints would make things run a lot smoother in the assembly process. what ball joints did you use?
Wagoneer Dana 44, chevy knuckles.
Thanks!
