Cool....

Did something similar earlier this year. Picked up a roll Rubi and have no regrets. I was debating over one tons and lift etc...wheeled it instead.

Surprised how well...already had short arm kit on it. I beat out some the damage and replaced couple things to make legal to inspect. Made a cage, trimmed the flares, added some alum. beadlocks on 36's. Family vehicle with heat, cd player, air...life is good. Already roll tested and dented from being street jeep so what the harm. We passed each other at Toys for Tots Haspen, black Rubicon.

all jokes aside
unlimited rubi 04-06 is my dream jeep. I love TJ's and in those you get the extra room (wheelbase) aswell as the 44's, lockers and 4:1.... great platform to start with.
good luck, post more pics.

35 hours in or atleast next to the truck with it running the full duration. 150+ cars, semi's and trucks seen stuck or smashed. Trees down and power out in southern Tennessee and North Carolina. Few really nasty wrecks witnessed. Lost brakes on trailer rented from smith trailers early on in the journey (which by the way stay away from rental trailer # 3).

Detour around I-40 rock slide on 25 was mountainous and twisty as hell with ice and snow and the truck racing up the steep hills sideways. Had to stop 4 times to clear ice from wheel wells so that I could steer once again. Here is a list of events starting from beginning to end on the incredible journey.

1. Trailer rental pick up started with them trying to raise their rates on me after I was quoted a firm price before hand.

2. Jeep becoming unstrapped on trailer from sudden stop on highway causing trailer surge brakes to fully engage in a bad location. I tuned the tuner up and hit 51lbs. of boost until the smoke from the trailer brakes quit.

3. Strapped trailer to guard rail and pulled surge brake assy. out. Repositioned jeep on trailer and forgot to remove bag wrapped tightly around outer filter. Didn't run too well.

4. Diesel fuel pumped extremely slow down south.

5. Texans arrived 4 hours late in 2wd ford.

6. Stopped 4 times to clear ice from windshield and wheel wells and trailer.

7. Had cheez-its for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

8. North Carolina fella gives me directions to wrong location and liked to text me while I was trying to drive and expected me to text him back.

9. Prayed a couple of times and thought methodically about ditching the truck and flying home with an excuse for the insurance company.

10. Hit snow 3 hours into the trip and got out of it 2 hours from home.

More to come.

sounds like a hell of a trip. Glad to hear you made it back safe. Why didn't you take the barn? And how is the turbo doing after hitting 51psi? They say anything over 44 and your almost certain to blow the head gasket and blow the turbo into pieces.

I do not have the stock turbo on the truck. I read somewhere that the head on the 06 trucks is rated for 50 psi or so. The programmer alarmed when it went over 50psi. which is probably the only reason that I noticed it.

Rubi06 02-02-2010 11:19 PM

I didn't know you had upgraded the turbo. What turbo and programmer are you running?

94Dodge Truggy 02-03-2010 06:47 AM

I can't give out the workings of my truck! Just kidding. I have a larger garrett and the Edge attitude unlocked with a main computer flash as well. Trans does not hold it and fuel can not compensate yet.

Rubi06 02-05-2010 04:53 PM

I had the fuel problem and i noticed my fuel pressure at about 3psi. Put an Airdog II 165 adjustable on and have a constant 17 psi. No more CP3 problems and i have no problems with the smarty on 9 with the rail pressure up. I liked it better that the fass if your looking for one.
