I definitely have to admit being impressed with Carwash's performance in TTC based on the fact there didn't seem to be much of a shakedown on the rig and he didn't have much seat time in it prior to the event. j
|
Hell, had ZERO seat time on the rear steer, and can't imagine not having it in another rig ever again.
The few good runs I had on the rig before TTC was plenty as far as getting used to the rig. Not like i built something bizarre and weird that needed getting used to, was just a fat pig. |

There were times that we would've never touched the rear though... Seeing Viz turning Leo's rear wheels on the Hill Climb surprised me... Quote:
In the end... he would have only lost ONE point if he'd stopped... Not enough to change the final standings in any way. (but you don't know that at the time!) Quote:
Doug Kahlstrom was a Driver last year (red Dodge) and was PJ's Co-driver this year in the Willys Buggy. I don't think that anyone has ever returned with a different rig as a Driver again, but the possibility exists if voted in by the readers. Quote:

Yeah I saw you throw your hands up and I was like not worth it. I can't imagine the stress to fix stuff on that type of a stage.
Did you even change tire PSI at all Mike? Oh yeah was that TV annoying by the end of the week, straight in your face when you start or right in it when your done? |
The "in your face" tv crews does get old, but that's what it's all about, without the dvd portion of this event, the event wouldn't happen. Problem is you start running out of **** to say, and look retarded, like i did a few times.

If MT rumors are true, the T5 compound and sidebiter design should be out in a "smaller" size (mid-lower 40's) maybe next year... I certainly hope that is true... Those are some NICE all around tires. I have a feeling that if they made a 16.5 version they would have trouble keeping stock... :D |
The TTC claw in a mortal size of around 42 or 44 would be excellent. I'd pick up a set.

Finally watched mondays show. Mike you must have just been lucky and got the right line because those were some crazy holes.
|
lucky... thanks Tony.
|
I didnt mean that in a bad way but I bet as soon as it starts you just go. I wouldnt think you are really focusing too much on where you are going just going.
|
true. we did do our best to avoid the big rocks...

It was some good driving by you Mike.
I bet the hill climb was a lot steeper than the video shows. And I thought they said if you lose forward momentum you were done but teams backed up a couple of times. I bet that was a fun ride. |
i heard they are looking into a rules infraction by carwash. apparantly he filled his tires with helium before the comp.... there is no possible way that 9400 lb rig of yours flew thru that fast without some help:evilgrin:

May have been around 2005 or so where there was an official hat for the event... Blue bucket hat... floppy brim type... I believe they may have even coerced competitors into wearing them during the pics/events...
Some of the Judges and Crew were still wearing them in past videos (Stover)... and we saw some this time... but the style hat is something that works well to keep off the brutal sun. When we got to JV after TTC... the environment was extremely hostile in terms of sun/dry-ness. I'm still less than happy that they wouldn't let me wear my hat for the rig/driver/co-dog beauty shots on Monday... After that I put on the AMSOIL sticker and no one said another word... Lynn (AMSOIL rep) even said that he was getting people asking him about my hat... That hat is Outdoor Research's Seattle Sombrero and mine has been rafting through the Grand Canyon, water skiing/wakeboarding/snow skiing/snow boarding numerous times, wheeling (back when I had a rig to drive), and has kept the rain off the back of my neck (my original intention) countless times in the last decade... I think it's time for a new one... maybe a different color this time? |
