Dont' get down. Do with what you have and start looking for the 60. Build it up in the garage bit by bit. As soon as it's 75% done. Put the 44 up for sale to fund the completion.

You could be done in 6-9 months and only be down for a long weekend or less.

Paul is right... hell, we all have been where you are, that's why we say what we do. You may be fine on the 44, it all depends on how you wheel.

You could find that diamond in the rough as well... and like Paul said, build it bit by bit. buy a caliper here, bearings there, gears later, etc.... build it. Just knowing you have it will give you peace of mind while wheeling.

Look for whole trucks, you get a much better deal if you don't mind stripping a truck.

I bought a running 78 F250 SnowFighter for $1,800, sold the remaining 351M/435/60 and scrap truck for around $1,200 so with some effort and a weekend cutting I had a HPF60 for $600. I put it on KMC's board and sold it for $975....I was pleased.
