Tow rigs.
For those who tow when they go to wheel.
-Take care of your ****! Don't just park it between rides and let it sit. That is the worst thing you can do. Upkeep your maintenance and don't neglect your rig.- That is all. Carry on with your day. I just put a new tune in my 7.3 and I'm super happy! Vroom! |
Something happen to you or was this just a random thought. You do make a very good point. Just curious.

Nothing really happened. I was just changing brake pads and looking at the rust on my truck and thinking that a lot of it could have been prevented if it had been addressed sooner.

i try to drive mine once every few weeks to keep it fresh,more so in the winter as the wife gets my DD jeep in the snow.

My tow rig is also my daily driver. She gets taken care of

Seriously, though... I don't really think it was the sitting. I got it second-hand after a paving company. I'm sure they used it to spread salt... Sitting didn't help, but short of stripping the entire thing down to bare metal, I don't think you were gonna stop it. |
So does the new tune mean you want a drag-race rematch?

I wish I knew more about body work. I'm going to flatbed it later this year.
The tune makes it really come to life. Not sure about a drag race, but it is about 200 ft lb more than before @ 2500rpm. |

My tow rig was also my daily driver for years, but now that it is not I try to drive it to work at least every other week. I always hook up my trailer a day or two before a trip and make sure the brakes and lights are working, check the air pressure in the tires (including the spares!), and usually at least drive it around a little. Can't believe the number of people that never check the air pressure in their trailer tires unless it is visibly flat, and even then it just gets air put back in until it "looks like enough".
The off-road rig always gets "nut and bolted" before a trip meaning I crawl underneath with a set of wrenches and make sure everything is tight. Of course it gets the routine fluid checks and try to drive it around the neighborhood a little. Definitely don't want to be "that guy" who pulls into the parking lot in the morning and proceeds to swap out an alternator that went bad during last month's trip....I'm not making this up either. |
