September Club Ride, DTOR on the 13th

Edit: Guess it's decided!

Opening this up for discussion: date and destination...

It's penciled on the calendar for the 13th. We were planning for something local, just a daytrip between Rush in August and Windrock in October.

I've had a lot of (ahem) negative feedback about Big Maple, so we're certainly not committed to that. We've already done Haspin a few times, and will probably be going again for the Tour in November. So I was kinda thinking DTOR, but I'm easy...

Who's planning to go? When and where would be good?

Thanks!

Drivermod 08-26-2014 07:35 PM

Head on out to Rush. How much further than DTOR is it really? They are having a $5K bounty hill comp that weekend. Gonna be a good time and you guys can show me where "Hardcore" is.

WrenchMonkey 08-26-2014 08:33 PM

We were just there two weeks ago, and nobody wanted to make the drive. Just me Jim n Kevin.

It's about three hours from town, vs about 1:15 to DTOR.

I'm with Robert, too soon to hit Rush again. I'm cool with DTOR, but I'm bringing the Rzr. It seemed like it took longer than 1:15 to get there last time. You sure about that.

Depends where you're coming from, of course. I said "from town" since it's kinda the center of the area. Google calls it 66 miles and 1:11 from there.

Still only 1:22 from my house, three minutes closer than Haspin. Real nice for a day trip.

It's 93 miles and 1:39 from my house. That's about what I remembered.

My tow rig is still down due to fuel pump and don't know if I will have time to fix in time. I'm a maybe at this point, it would take a miracle for me to find the time to fix tow rig and check over trail rig before the 13th. My Schedule is packed

Is 491 still gone? Haven't been there in years.

Pretty sure. The website is still up, but the facebook page hasn't had any activity since they announced they were closing in February.

They finally reopened Hillz n Hollarz under the "Mud Madness" name, and DTOR is going again. But Big Rock and 491 appear to be gone for good...

Do we want to meet up at the Union rest stop and head down from there? Say about 8 or 8:30?

Well be that way. We didn't want you to go with us anyway. smileypoke

Thought about going with you before I saw it was bouncer weekend. Heard there was a big crowd last time. Better get there early to get a camping spot.

That's cool with me. Is that the same rest stop we meet at to go to Harlan?

Probably. MM177 on 71/75 southbound, just south of Mt Zion.

There's usually more room on the "cars" side that time of morning, so we head over there, even towing.

So it's currently me, Kevin, Jeff and Nick, probably Tom, and maybe Andy and/or Tony.

Can't wait!

Robert

Sorry guys but due to not being able to get caught up on a few things and other issues going to complete hell I'm 100% out for this trip with no possibility of anything changing by this coming weekend. Have fun, be safe and take plenty of pics.

Yep, I'll be with Todd and the rest of the gang. Should roll in some time around mid day tomorrow.

WrenchMonkey 09-12-2014 05:40 PM

Well if you guys are done hijacking my thread... :D

Looks like:

Me, Robert
Kevin - 93Krawler
Jeff - jrat73
Nick - CopperTop, and
Tom - ComancheDude.

Andy and Tony are out.

We're meeting at the Union rest stop about eight: MM177 on 71/75 southbound, just past Mt Zion.

There's usually more room on the "cars" side that time of morning, so we head over there, even towing.

See y'all in the morning!
