converting one to 4wd is incredibly easy

That's my thought.

I know the axle will bolt right in, but now I've read that the tranny output is wrong, and not worth changing. So you'd need a donor tranny and tcase.

Still, not real hard to come by.

You can get a matched aw4/231 from a cherokee for cheap. I have $200 in mine. Go with a '91-later to get the stronger 23-spline version

Buy a 4wd '91-newer XJ for cheap and transfer everything over to upgrade this Renix 2wd to HO 4wd. You could have a neat piece for less than $2k
