Rockwell axle length

On the 2.5 ton rockwell axles I have a few questions. How do you make the rear and front axles the same width from wheel bolting flange to wheel bolting flange. Another is are they all 6.72 ratios? And I guess you can not rotate the pinion and count the revolutions of the wheel to get a gear ratio due to the top loader gearing.

They are all 6.72:1 and yes, you can still do the rotation trick even with them being top loaders.

To make the front match the rear, you flip the hubs of the front axle in so that they are on the way the rears are. The bearings are the same, aside from the width of them. it will all interchange just fine.

There are some obstacles to overcome regarding them... They are definitely not as easy as throwing some 1-tons under there.

i was gonna keep my mouth shut about usa6x6, but can concur with rob, there are issues with them, and i wouldnt buy wheels from them. If you want custom wheels, get ahold of john at Stazworks. http://www.stazworks.com/

Ouverson sells the best rockwell parts made. i will be running his brakes, and 2" 41 spline shafts before long as well i'm sure.

94Dodge Truggy 01-09-2008 10:21 AM

I was told and have heard that usa6x6 had their stuff together finally but maybe that is not the case.

carwash 01-09-2008 10:57 AM

why risk it?

JET455 01-09-2008 11:29 AM

USA6x6 is fine if you want to just get the centers to do it yourself and they are instock! But order wheels and you will wait and they will leak.....

$250 per wheel at usa6x6 and stazworks looks to be $90.00 higher each for 16.5x10 with rock ring and rockwell pattern.

carwash 01-09-2008 01:01 PM

then go with usa6x6, and i hope we don't have to say I told you so... good luck.

buy some centers and rockrings and do your own wheels.

Try http://www.greatlakeoffroad.com/h1wheels.html
Not sure if they do the wide rims or not, but they may just not advertise it. Seems like they do a lot more than they advertise. I have had good luck with them on some parts

carwash 01-09-2008 01:57 PM

just don't get your centers and rings from copperhead...
