tsl sx vs boggers
well i should be getting the title for my 78 sat. my buddy finally bugged the guy enough. so ive been debating for some time now on the boggers or the tsl sx both will be a 38.5x(sx-14.5)(bogger-15)x15. the boggers are only 100 more after everything is figured together. no i kno boggers wear fast but the truck isnt goin to see highway or get a lot of miles. so im not sure which tire to go wiht i want to get it into some mud pits but not sure just how good the sx's are i kno i can get better road use with the tsl sx but what can i say i love me some boggers. im in the marine corp so the truck really wont be driven that much at all since im in japan just started up and driven around the field or something. any help would be aprecciated.thank:beers:

So it depends on your wheeling needs and personally I like to the look of the SX's. Also, IMO I think the SX's would be easier to resell. |
well all my trails are just big enough for a jeep or toyota to maneuver thro. so the chevy wont be seeing them. so itll mostly just be mud pits in an ole corn field or something with the boys. i was leaning towards the sx anyways just due to the little bit of driveability they do have over the boggers but i though before i made my final decision i would see what other opinions are out there. i mean dont see any trails in the future but u never kno either.
plus how well would the sx do in the mud alone. i want something that will dig its way out with ease |
For straight playing in the mud the Boggers would have the advantage, but from what I've seen there is not a huge difference between a Bogger and regular Swamper or SX (same tread pattern).
Have you considered buying a used set of tires? I'm a cheap skate and would have a hard time spending more on a set of tires than what rest of the entire truck is worth, especially on something that just gets used to play around in every once in awhile. If you have some flexibility in the exact size and type of tire, and a little patience, you can keep an eye out and find a good deal. I've bought my last two sets of tires and wheels used for around half the price of new ones, and they were 90-95% tread left. Take the money you saved and put it towards other upgrades like real axles, lockers, etc... But it's your money, and I can't fault anybody for wanting a new set of tires. |
TSL bias ply up front and boggers on the rear for my vote.

id probably go as low as a 37. but i can never find a set of 15 its always 16's. i should be home in march for about a month so its goin to be my dd then. but it isnt goin to go far from home or get over 50mph. ive been lookin for tires for awhile now for this thing but all i can find are sets of 33's and super worn 35's. a few 42's and even a set of 39 boggers. but the truck has 39s now which rud slightly when turned all the way to the right. so im droppin the size just a bit. the tires it has now are belted mickey thompson. which are worn in the middle and it like to run the road whenever it wants.

I'd pick sx's.....they will at least be great in all aspects of wheeling. Boggers, only 1 and thats mud. Plus you mentioned tire rub, well the boggs have some nasty lugs at the tires edge. Pick your sizes wisely........02*

I would run sx`s in the front and boggers in the rear that way tou can still steer and the boggers will still push

I've run both and love both.
The SX is undoubtedly the tougher of the two tires ... I've seen Boggers cut sidewalls. SX's also work good in all but the thickest mud. Boggers on the other hand do lack a little side hill capability but it's not impossible to deal width , after running them for awhile you'll find you've altered your driving style and no longer notice it. They also suck up HP and don't do all that great if you can't spin them in hard the mud. I think Boggers climb steep rocky hills better and look sweet:D Boggers are also hard on drivetrain parts. |
well hopefully he get the title tomorro bu im probably goin to get the sx's. thanks for all the advice

you could groove the boggers as well. Maybe every other lug just to help out a bit.

Nick Go Bengals!!WHO-DEY!!! |
WHO-DEY is for sure.. but i think the tires may have to hold off for a few. i came across a 94 yj with SOA and a decent set of 33's. so thats the goal right now.PLAYOFFS=WHO-DEY
