Incredible journey for a new build!

I was bored with the current jeep and have not really been able to do any heavy fabrication in a while so I have decided to start something new. I will be traveling next weekend to Nashville, TN. to drop off the wrangler to a new owner coming from texas. From there I will be headed to Charlotte NC. (on I-40 which may still be closed due to a rock slide) to pick up a jeep from a fella with a salvage title in need of repair. I will then head home to finish a 24 hour drive over 1 short weekend.

The jeep is a 2006 unlimited rubicon 6 speed that is hit on the passengers side ever so slightly! Plans are to fix it, wheel it, and decide weather to keep the dana 44's or go to 60's. I would like to run either 37's or 39's and plan to make this very streetable. I have an automatic to go in the jeep if desired and 2 dana 60's out of a 2004 doge ram power wagon with factory selectable lockers. Not sure if the dana 44's are up to the task with what I have in mind even built with chromoly shafting so I have an option.

I (she) will post up pics of the build from body repairs to suspension upgrades. Any GOOD input would be appreciated. (except from George) Please be patient as this will be on and off the trails for probably 2 years while going through changes and my progress building will be slow but not as slow as some on here! Haa Haaa :beers: Keep in mind also that this rig may be sold before completed as I may change my mind soon and often.

Pics to come.

Thanks, Scott

Ohhhh, I knew who that was directed at...

The only way I would put an auto in any Jeep is if I lost my left leg...
Thanks for the pics Lori... Cool project... let's hope it doesn't go the way of the Durango.

I know a guy not to far from you who can pull that.

Good luck on your new project Scott...

I'm leaving Sat morning to drive to Tennessee and pick up a Trailworks chassis..and start a semi-serious crawler project. Carwash and I had plans on building a chassis but I got such a good deal I couldn't pass it up.

I'm also the king of reinventing projects..this will be my fourth rendition.

That beast was overkill! You should have bought it. Sounded good but my little daughter did not approve of it so its off to something different.

Hope Springs Hauler 01-22-2010 09:39 PM

Pater, are we going to build you a 4.7 stroker for this?:D

Jeff, are you going with a sbc, bbc or do you know yet?

94Dodge Truggy 01-22-2010 09:41 PM

That will be one nice FJ when done! Good start. How did you come across the new chassis?

Trigger 01-22-2010 10:29 PM

You going to stick with the 4.0 in it, or go with something bigger? If you decide to get rid of the motor, let me know, I might be interested in it.

itbrokeagain 01-22-2010 11:02 PM

I have a good very very cheap body guy.......

I will have a 2005 4.0 from a wrangler this spring with an automatic. I will give you a shout when I have it.
