did you check fuse's under the hood?
I had a car do that it was a fuse dose the radio or anything inside the car work? thats what hapend to me wouldn't even try to start no lights but the radio and door locks worked |
hmm.did not look but.i will tomorow
good luck
haha.thanks this is a great start to the week.
still could be any number of things. Ignition switch. Starter relay. Seized starter selenoid. Loose contacts or shorted/broken wire. Do you have a good repair manual for it?
Are you getting 12 volts at the selenoid? If not the problem is before it. Bypass everything and run a power wire straight from the battery + to the 12V + on the starter selenoid. Just give it a slight touch to a good clean contact. If it cranks it's something between the key and the selenoid. If nothing still try tapping on the selenoid and repeat step 1. If it cranks you'll need a new starter soon.Start there first. |
haha.ok.sorry this is just amuzing because i just with through this sh!t with my truck tonight.its haveing the same problems.i will tommorow thanks
do you have any pictures of where the fuseable link is?
it wasn't a fusable link on mine it was a regular fuse do you have a fuse box up under the hood?
I'll try and get a pic of one one one of my cars if I get the time today but like stickman said it could be anything |
so, not turning over at all? Does the radio at least come on when you turn the key to start like usual?
sounds like the starter is bad, try hitting it with a hammer while trying to start it. that may get you home or to somewhere better to work on it. |
Not enough info to help you. (Of course, if you swap enough parts, you'll get to it eventually.) Like others have suggested, use a test light and/or a multimeter to see whether you're getting power/ground to the switch, relay, starter, etc. Let us know whether the radio, horn, interior lights work etc.
Good luck. |
haha.no radio.horn doesnt work even when i bought it.but the lights dont come on or anything.

make sure all your cables are good and tight from your battery. if the battery is good and a cable has become disconnected then all thein things you are describing could and would happen
I've had the same type of issue just because a battery cable was slightly loose and then corroded. Had to pull the cables off, clean everything, and put it back together. When I say loose, it's not like you could easily wiggle the cables on the battery but rather you could just barely rotate the clamp.
there is a single wire conection next to the positive cable on the positive terminal at the battery (white plastic housing) that is your fusible link for the whole vehicle. if posibly a jumper box or anything got hooked up incorrectly it could blow that. it can be bypassed for test purposes.
It is possible if you have a bad or corroded connection some where the rainy days and moisture can make it worse also... I would check the chassis grounds for corosion too...
good luck :beers: |
got it it was the fusible link corroded and broke stripped the wire back and connected it back to the terminal and fired right up.
scott, did you ever figure out how much you want for them shifter seats?
i see i still know a few things about the trouble spots.;)
