Conquering Black Mountain with HUMMER's

Hey guys I thought I would share some pix of the Black Mountain HUMMER Event I put on a couple weeks go. We had an absolute blast. I think between the 30 trucks we had show up we ran close to 95% of the trails. I cannot wait to go back and break some more stuff! lol

That close call roll over was pretty damn scary. lol. I was standing next to the truck by myself holding it at first... I should have a vid of it soon...

We had trucks from MN, WI, VT, MO, FL, MI,.... well lots of people that drove from long distances lol

i honsetly can't see hummers running anywhere near 95% of the trails down there unless you are talking about the main trails. if they did then they must be the best built hummers in the country. not trying to be mean or disrespectful but the obstacles down there are tough for even the best built comp. rigs

I would say he was talking about main trails and very moderate stuff. no way they did even railbed or either of the damnations, no less lions den or mason jar. If they did there would be alot more carnage in those pics!

2 of the groups ran Mason Jar. My group ran upper Damnnation. Had no problems at all. I think the only areas that everyone stayed away from were Lions Den, and Can opener.

The Extreme group ran Rail Bed. Heard some interesting stories come from that one.

Keep in mind most of the Trucks that belong to HCI guys are built. Front/Rear lockers, winches, lifts, beadlocks etc.. etc... etc...

All three rock gardens where ran by at least one group or another. Let me see what I can dig up for pictures. I have a ton of them. Just need to get them on photobucket.

Keep in mind we can run really crazy terrain but..... not anywhere near as quick as the rock crawlers.

Now that is just hilarious. You would get bored wheeling with us! lol. In that buggy would be able to run all of those trails 10x faster than us! lol.

I was just curious about your hummer only club... never was fond of brand specific clubs and wondered if you let others join you, or if you snub them off of your planned club rides...

In this time of places closing, trails being shut down, land being taken away... we need to embrace all types of wheelers. I say this to anyone, especially those that might snub the h2's because they aren't what they consider a trail vehicle.

Thats a completely different world of 4 wheel'n than what I'm used to. You guys have more money in your trail rigs than I do in my tow rig,trailer, buggy and all the tools I used to build it. And My friends step back and laugh at me when I'm about to roll over... But its awesome you actually use them for what they were designed for (or at least marketed for). It'd be just as fun if not more fun to watch you guys on a run than watch a comp buggy walk everything:beers:

Well the HUMMER Club is obviously geard towards HUMMER vehicles and getting HUMMER owners to use their vehicles for its intended majority purpose.

Because of insurance reasons our events are supposed to be limited to HUMMER vehicles only. Our insurance policy covers members of the club from beeing sued or sueing others etc....

Also at our events we have technical support from AM General (Semi truck brings 2 H1's and a trailer that is a mobile shop full of parts and tools) And the a local dealer who brings a parts/tools truck in the same fashon. The spare H1's are typically used to go into the trails to bring in spare parts and mechanics to fix trucks on the trail if the group is not able to self sustain or extract. (Most of the time the AM General H1's do not leave the lot). We are very prepaired to service HUMMER vehicles...So we only market our events to HUMMER owners.

HOWEVER........ We have club members who have kids that have Jeeps, buggies etc... And we allow them to bring those 4x4's as well. And if you just happen to be in the woods at the same time and want to wheel with us we are allways willing to accomodate!

Funny Story
A couple years ago at our Windrock event there was a guy who just happend to be at the same hotel we had our event based out of. He had an old Trooper that was pretty well built. He towed it on a car Hauler with an H2. Naturally we had to give him hell over only using his H2 as the tow rig. He quickly rebuted and said his trooper will go way more places his H2 did. So as the night wore on he got a lil cocky and stated that he would bet a round of drinks for the whole club that his trooper would out wheel any H2 we had at the event. So we invited him to go out with the "Hard" group of H1's and
H2's to put the bet into play.

Needless to say his Trooper (wich was a nice offroader had a ton of upgrades mods etc....) Had to be strapped over the very first obstacle that Stock H2's were able to get over.... Apparently this was actually the theme of the day but the HCI boys stuck with him and did not leave him behind.

His bar bill at the Hotel was pretty hefty that night. lol

So yeah if you just "Happen to be around" when a HCI event is going on and want to join, we always welcome other wheelers. But if you break it....Your kind of well, on your own....

So we try to embrace all wheelers. In fact HCI is very active with supporting/funding Tread Lightly, The Blue Ribbon Coalition, and Friends of the Rubicon amongst other "sport wide" off-road groups
