is it blue or is it just the light making it look that way? I like it either way... I guess it stuck to the lexan good then...

Did you sell the left over piece of material(don't remember the name) you used for your skid plate ?

:beers:

Firewall and floor are 16 gauge sheetmetal. I thought it had a blue sheen to it as well. Maybe it will dry black. Idk..
Yeah it is uhmw plastic. 7 times more abrasion resistant than steel. Gotta support it though...Still lookin to split a sheet w someone

Note to self... air bumps are a snug pinch fit into cans, so don't go heavy when painting cans. Wow they were tight to go in! Got a couple other things bolted in too...

And here's a full bump side shot. Ride height has 20 inch belly, 8 inches of uptravel, 4 inch bumps in rear, 2 inch in front. Top of cage 6'2"... stay tuned for morehttp://tapatalk.com/mu/6b2e7810-b330-878a.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/6b2e7810-b345-2a05.jpg

Its looking good Rob.... Wish I was at the same point....

dougg01 07-12-2011 12:04 PM

that is looking real pretty. Like the arrangement of everything. It'll look good all scratched and chipped up too.

yellowjacket 07-12-2011 12:12 PM

Thanx. If it don't look all beat up after the first trip out I'm not trying hard enufd:D

yellowjacket 07-17-2011 07:11 PM

Seats and shifter.

Seats comin out one more time to slip in my rear firewall. I had one on the last buggy and loved it so I'm tryin to sneak one into this buggy too. It cuts noise from exhaust and rad fan, keeps mud and rain out from the back.

It be a two man operation w my back and trying to form it around seats so maybe Friday nite deal

Also got some kc daylighters on the front. Not wantin to hang uber expensive lights off the front, but I haven't had good success w cheapies either. Slap 10$ wall marts underneath as rocklights cause they ain't gonna last anyway.http://tapatalk.com/mu/6b2f15c1-6ecf-cabf.jpg

I've always had good luck with those style lights. They seem to take a beating though they look like they wouldn't.

yellowjacket 07-17-2011 08:36 PM

Yeah. Back in the day they were THE light to have....
They are still mounted well behind where front tire makes contact. Easily two feet behind.

Here's pic for referennce but not exact , as axle will be toward rear by six inches( front bumps will be in front of truss tube)http://tapatalk.com/mu/6b2f15c1-8008-8591.jpg

Looking DAMN good Rob....

boomhauer 07-17-2011 10:36 PM

looks really good rob! only thing i see right off is maybe a lot of water (when it's raining) coming off the roof right onto the dash? maybe a small piece of channel might help with the runoff.

yellowjacket 07-18-2011 12:01 AM

Should miss the dash and go right onto me!:o

Yup this ain't gonna be the rig to take out in the gullywashers. My piggest peeve is when that cold harlan rain gets on ur neck, so I spent more detail on keeping that fron happining...

dougg01 07-18-2011 12:25 PM

Nice progress.

Nothing wrong with a solid stock bottom end, good oiling, and some breathing. I'm still wondering why no one seems to have based a buggy on a duece looking thing (I mean 32 roadster). Naturally a highboy and it is plenty narrow. Throwing the front axle out in front is not only appealing, it's practically mandatory.

Keep up with the pictures.

pfreer3 07-18-2011 07:39 PM

like this one.... I saw this one in Petersons and droolled over it several times.http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/feature...ggy/index.html

sorry for hi-jack...

Oh, I loved it and enjoy the unique sound it has too. We had the DVD on order so fast it wasn't funny. The room inside the chop looked okay, but visibility appeared to be limited.

A few years earlier there was a 60s ford truck too and there are a smattering of them here and there, but I have yet to see a duece-bodied crawler. The tudor bodies were very well represented in mud racing for years and most used a flimsy version that was super light. I'm just thinking the look might be right, you get some protection from flying and falling debris, and it would be something different from an exposed-tube buggy. One of the biggest reasons I despise the France Family Farce is the cookie-cutter crap (they claim an advantage is to help keep down costs too....whatever) and the Car of Tomorrow only makes it worse.

I'm a snob on this. I prefer vehicles that have character verses the lemming approach. Even the Yeti looked unique among all but a couple rigs at TTC. When I go to a car show or cruise in and see 10 cars with the same 20" wheels, regardless of how they fit the car or not, I generally avoid them because 'its what everyone has'.

Maybe I'll draw up a concept of what I am thinking. A stinger that looks and functions much like a headlight bar on a duece might be cool. Sprint car headers with a cap.....
Bobbed rear fenders....

A nose-less Willys might look good too. Dennis' mud truck is plain wicked. If he got into southern-style crawling he'd unseat Tim as the video download king. The John Force of off road....hitting the loud pedal until he sees Elvis.

Sorry for the hijack.

Please, keep us updated. LOVE IT.....
