venting a full hydro system

i know from experience that a single ended ram system needs to have a vent.

what about a double ended ram? seems to me that it wouldent need to be since volume from one side retracting would be displaced to other side that is extending.( i realize thats not how system sequence flows but u get what im saying)

can i get a confirmation or denial on this? thanx

The hydraulic system should be vented I would think, if for no other reason than thermal expansion. However I do think your thought carries some merit due to less change in fluid volume in the resevoir.
