I bought a '96 Civic. For my 70 mile round trip commute per day it is saving me over $20 per day versus driving my Suburban (35mpg vs. 10mpg). I have had it about a year now, I figure it paid for itself in the first 8 months or so. It will hit 200K soon, and I'd drive it to California tomorrow if needed.
