Copy of my letter being sent certified mail to the nice lady in accounting at ODOT:
Dear Ms Davis:
I received the enclosed invoice in error. This is based on two pieces of information that I’m afraid may not have been clear prior to assigning my accident report number to this guardrail replacement cost.
First, I’ve enclosed the accident report completed by the State Trooper and have outlined the statement made by him that states no damage to the guardrail. The Trooper was at the scene, and made a note that there was no damage at that time. Therefore, if your department was required to repair a section of guardrail along 275, it was not due to my accident that took place 3 months ago on 12/23/08.
Second, the section of guardrail that I struck is still in tact along 275 and as such does not appear to have been replaced. There appears to be blue paint from my car showing on it as of yesterday.
To summarize, the police report states no damage to guardrail and the section(s) replaced were not involved in my accident from 3 months ago. Due to these important pieces of information, please send me a written cancellation notice of the invoice. If you have questions, please convey them in writing to either my email address or my mailing address shown above. Thank you for your prompt attention to this intrusive matter.
