I'm sure this was on a state route. If so report it to the local DOT. It is there responsibility to keep the road ways clean and clear of debris. File a report for documentation turn claim into them for the repair. They are also responsible for pot holes that will take out your front end. They have to be fixed within a set amount of time after being reported.
