I second the camping in the actual camping area (other side of the creek from the main gravel rd). I'm camping in that area regardless of where the rest of the group decides to camp. You are not supposed to camp in the gravel lot, we have been told to move when camping there in the past.
The lot by the bathhouse in town is horrible for tent campers. There are so many lights on all night that you can't sleep. Plus it most likely requires advanced reservations on busy weekends.
