Home maintenance ??
Do you need a state/local building permit to legally change a hot water heater in Ohio?
Some people say yes , some say no but I was looking for someone who knows for sure.... Jeff |

Are you replacing or changing the style, gas, electric....? I know we have replaced ours with out a permit but that doesn't help you too much.

Have an electric and am putting another electric in...
Over the years I've heard a ton of opinions on what can and can't be done around the house legally , I guess I might have to go buy myself a Ohio code book. Hell people replace decks , change water heaters , build sheds all the time , I think permits are required for all these? |

Called my local township building commissioners office and asked ... you do without a doubt NEED a permit to replace a water heater.
You can do it your self but you need a permit before and inspection after the job. Jeff |
