Has anyone put a CJ7 on a 79 Bronco frame?
I have a 85 CJ7 and a 79 Bronco and am thinking about doing the swap.
Any input as to why or why not to would be great. Thanks. |

Put the diffs in the CJ ... I've seen a couple jeep tubs on K5 chassis and they look like ****... I can't imagine that Bronco frame would look much better.
I think the 78-79 Ford D44's had cast radius arm mounts which can be difficult to convert to leaf or coil/air but it is doable. With the diffs you will need the driver drop 205 and the C6 ... hell you might as well put a 5.0L in it will you at it. |

HMMM You must know me and know I have a compete and total hatetred for all things GM.
The bronco has a BB 351 M / 5 speed / and a 205 / I don't want to change the front set up I will just move the arms to the outside of frame make them longer and mount them at the frame with himes. It's not a TTB set up. It's a soild axle on coils. Conyers rig is set up this way and it's Flexy as H*ll. For the back A 4 link on coils set up with the axle under the end of the frame is the plan. If I comp cut the back of the Jeep the axle lines up with the end of the tub. I also have a set of bead locked 36's just waiting to be used. The Bronco also has a 6" lift on it already. |
