Slade meeting
I know most of you won't drive down to Louisville just for this meeting but, just thought I would give you a heads up of whats going on in the area.
From the Moab-Offroad website http://moab-offroad.net/smf/index.php?topic=1376.0 There is going to be a guest speaker named Jeff Dozier coming in town next Wednesday the 12TH to discuss the trail closures at Natural Bridge. He has been working with the forestry service to develop an alternate route system in the Slade area. They are closing more trails down there and now is our chance to be proactive. Thanks to Gut-Pile, he has offered his conference room for us to use. I encourage everyone that enjoys trail riding in that area to COME TO THIS MEETING!!!! Here is the info that Gut-Pile (Craig Wooldridge) posted on the Moab Offroad forum. OPC Pest Control/Construction & Repair 5800 Poplar Level Rd. Louisville, KY 40228 Arrival time 6:30. Please no earlier.... There are two parking lots, one gravel on the left of the building and one black top to the right of the building. Please use the blacktop parking lot, it is the one closest to the train tracks. Enter through the grey steel door on the side of the building. (A sign will be posted on this door) There are Coke and Pepsi vending machines if you would like something to drink while there. Thanks and hope to see everyone there. |

Also the area they are trying to close is the main watershed, where everyone camps and ventures off from there. If that area is closed some of the trails that will be going with it are Little Widowmaker, Big Widowmaker, Carb Hill, Rattlesnake. Granted Big Widowmaker and Carb are each about half on private property and half on National Park property. Even though they are on private property the access to them will be lost. Just an FYI they have already started logging in the area. |

I drove to Slade a few times to attend a couple meetings re:the land use. It's an interesting perspective. I'm already taking a bunch of time off work in Jan, otherwise, I'd drive down to make this one in Louisville. Please keep us posted...
