I live just outside of Columbus and our club is based out of there, and haven't heard anything about this place for years. The last I heard was the owner of the land had a falling out with promoters of the rock crawl events.

It was a good event the couple times I went, the food vendor sucked. I didn't care for the chines food that was about the only thing they had. There weren't many spectators there which was nice to watch, and the advertising of the events sucked. There was a lot of money spent on the course to be dumped like it was.
I was working in Columbus at the time and saw some rigs going up 71 on a Friday night. I checked their web sit and sure enough an event was scheduled. Not a word on any of the forums to promote the event. I think Dustin Webster hosted the last event. |

It all depends on what you are in to and personal preference, but about 5-6 guys from our club went to one of the events. We all got bored after about the first hour and stopped watching. Just never been into the rockcrawling comps where they spend what seems like 10 minutes to go 5 feet.
I agree with the lack of advertisement. Our club (50+ members) even approached them with interest in getting involved and maybe volunteering at the events. They never really got back with us and didn't even try to sell the event. You would think they would try to tap into the off-road clubs at least for advertisement purposes. |
