Dana 35 Cross pin bolt
Just had to install a new ring and pinion along with a carrier in a Rear 35, I could NOT get the crosspin bolt to thread in all the way and was worried I was gonna snap it off.
I took and grinded the end of it down until I was able to screw it in all the way with lock tight. I ended up shaving at least a little over a 1/8...now I noticed that the pin is a hair short of going into the other side of the carrier.. Not a 35 expert. Will the cross pin bolt break because it's too short ? I goes all the way through the pin but a hair shy of the carrier.

So originally, the little bolt only stuck through the crosspin and into the carrier by ~1/8"? That surprises me.
That crosspin really shouldn't see any endload at all, the bolt just holds it in place. Still, I think I'd rather clean up the hole in the carrier, to let a full-length pin seat like it should. I may have a spare...
