Has anyone wheeled there lately? Last time I was there was thanksgiving weekend 07 and the front page of the paper at the 49 er was the trails being closed with up to a four thousand dollar fine if caught wheeling there. we have lic ins, reg. Was wandering if anyone had been there lately to find out the rules of travel there now. And can you still camp there? We used to go there on bikes for about ten years, then it was open to lic vehicles only so we all started building trucks. That place is awsome and would like to go back, but not to travel 2 1/2 hrs only to turn around and drive another 2hrs to wheel somewhere else. thanks for any input on this subject.

No camping, roads damn near paved, 80% of trails closed and seeded, rangers usually stop and inspect. = not worth the drive.

agreed as said above. the only parts "legal" for you to be on are the main trails, or better said, the actual state route 909. But only legal if you are tagged, insured, and street legal. they will ticket you, and if you get smart, they will impound you.
stay away, go to harlan. trust me, i miss it something horrible, but i doubt i will ever wheel there again.
