Power steering belt

On a 350 does the power steering belt need to go directly to the power steering pump or should it also go to the water pump, or does it not matter either way? Right now my belt is going directly to the pump. I am trying to replace it but every auto place gives me one too big which would fit perfectly if it went over the water pump and the power steering pump. Any thoughts?
