Built tranny, Bigger rad , Bigger valves and cam and the list goes on and on.
A REAL Intercepter is a bad ass motor/tranny and about 150 hp more then stock. |

I call BS , I'm sitting in one right now ! I also have ordered prob. 10 of them over the last five years. I've been to two private Law Enforcement seminares with Ford that went in depth into the new Cruisers. The cars are turds , always have been and prob. always will. They top out at about 140-145 and shake like leaf at that speed. I will give them credit , they are very realible vehicles , They got it right with the current combination. Now with that being said there are some minor things that are different but for the most part suspension and Alt. is the only things under the hood that ford changed.

How old of a motor are we talking about? Different years can be VERY different. Last edited by maddhatter; 10-24-2008 at 03:43 AM. |

what about that car makes it so cool? the gay mural across the back? or the gay fins on the rear bottom of it... Or is it the louvers, borrowed from 1986?

As already mentioned there is nothing really special about any "interceptor" Ford Crown Vics. I few tweaks here and there mainly for durability (maybe heavier springs, higher output alternator, coolers, etc...), but no souped up engines or anything. The only "performance" upgrade I know of is they either change or eliminate the top speed limiter and therefore have a higher speed rated tire. A friend of mine (78Buford on this board) picks up old ex-police/government Crown Vics all the time for either daily drivers or to resell them and I believe he would say the same thing.
They may be able to go 145 mph, but I bet it takes them awhile to get there. And as Sarge stated, it's hard to outrun the radio! |

The best I've ever seen a Ford Interceptor run in the 1/4 is 16.4 seconds. I used to think they were awesome cars until that.
