John ( the guy that built your tranny ) sold his dragster and got a 68 pro street Camaro , he just got a 672 crate motor and is going to build it . I can't wait to see that thing

I'm jealous of that motor, especially considering I'm use to 160 h.p. in a 6,000 lb. truck.... 78Buford runs a 460 that desktop dyno'd (take that number for what it's worth, but usually at least within reason) at 340 hp, 525 ft-lbs. He can hit 5,000 rpm at will with a 19:1 overall ratio in a 6,000 lb. truck with 42's, so that's crazy wheelspeed.

Talking about the Blown 502 on the test stand? That one's mine, it's in my boat. 502, B&M 420, Worked heads. Hell of a motor. ITLLFLI has a crazy 540 in his boat, and a 588 just in case.

That was a fun weekend, this years Lake Cumberland Poker run. Byrons brother and I have the same boat. Both blown 502's, 25 Powerplay's. Pretty rare boat, only two I/O's that I know of. Maybe only a handfull of them built. Blew the outdrive the last day heading back to the dock so that weekend turned into an expensive one. That was the "break-in" weekend for my motor so we were "taking it easy"
Carwash's 454 is a very stout motor, should be plenty of Tq for him. |
