Ram 48RE Cummins Dilema

Looking for a quality 48RE automatic or a local builder who can make a Dodge trans last. I have lost faith in my trans builder and am looking at Goerend, ATS and Monster. Anyone have any good info or hear of any shops that are reputable?

I have heard that idling in park for extended time will smoke the torque converter bushing if left in park. Anyone else hear this? Also using reverse with a heavy load I have smelled burning trans fluid since day 1.

Truck is a 2006 Dodge Ram Cummins 4x4. I plan on towing heavy, drag racing, tractor pulling, tug of war, running hard and using an engine brake. Truck has common motor mods since it had 1000 miles on it. I have been waiting to put injectors and an air dog fuel system on it because of the stock trans.

I gave the trans 60,000 miles till it would die and it is at 59,700 so last week I had the fluid changed as a last ditch effort after seeing the fluid go from pink to dark maroon and a nice smell. Today I am leaving on vacation and did a check to see the fluid is sparkling and filthy. Still taking it over jelico mountains and hope it burns. I will feel much better after it is built and am anxious to see what the power adders will do. Thanks in advance for any good input! Scott

I know many people that have had great results with Goerend. They are supposed to have a 3yr/100k warranty.

Another guy recommends this guy:
Lavon Miller Plain City, Ohio 614-348-4277

After going through the same things with mine, if I had to do it again I would go with a Goerend all the way. I've personally seen what they can handle and trust them. Jon up at Preble County Diesel Power does great work and I would trust him with my truck anyday. I've seen his work and has always done a great job. He builds pulling trucks and has his own Dodge pulling truck. Most of the performance work I've seen him do is on Dodge's. Only about a 20-30 minute drive.

Where is this? I've been looking for someone relatively close to my area for work.

The truck is still hanging in there and sees mountain treks daily here in gatlinburg. Keeping the local phone book with me just incase she quits rollin. Gonna take it somewhere mid next week. Lookin like Goerend. I am going to add a remote fan cooler setup under the frame to help. Valvoline said I have a warranty since I kept the fluid changed with them.
