I know I should not do this, but, there is a good thread on pirate about optima alternatives.

Yeah... google the words "OptimaJim" and "sorry" and prepare to camp out for several days with all the problems and BS excuses
I really like my NGT-Extreme battery from Carquest... it's manufactured by East Penn Manufacturing, made in USA, and is essentially a rebadged DEKA Intimidator which is about as good as it gets. I got a discount through work since we use CQ as a supplier, but I only paid $102 IIRC for my battery, about 1.5 years ago. Jeep sits for a LONG period of time between starts, no problems at all. Costs 1/2 of a Sears Diehard battery, so it's a good battery for me. |

Odyssey or Interstate work great in extreme applications.

Diehards have about as good of a reputation as you can find.
It will defiantely be my next battery choice for my truck but right now I have a platinum gold series battery from oreillys in my rig and I ran it on a saturday and half a sunday without the alternator first weekend I had it until it died. Jumped her with a working alternator and never had a problem, Works great. Think I paid 110 or so my dad runs the same thing as well in his rig. 3 year full warranty I believe as well.
