dodge auto trans's

I just come across a 01 dodge 1500 2wd I bought to get parts off of that needs a trans. Once I get my parts I'm wantin to put a trans in it and sell it. My question is will a 4wd trans fit a 2wd truck if I change the tail shaft. I know you can in some chevys but I don't know about dodges??

do some more research...i thought the same thing on a gm trans but i was wrong...thought that a 2wd 4l60 and 4wd 4l60 were the same except for tail shaft...i was wrong..the main shaft thru the whole trans is different...housing is same but u had 2 switch all the guts out from one to another which would just be transferring the prob from one to another...
