Cherokee tire size

I'm looking to put on a 2 inch lift and 31's on a 86 Cherorkee will I have proper tire clearance if I run this combo?

I'll wait for some of the XJ crew to give you a definitive answer, but it does seem like some more information might be helpful... (and potentially increase the effectiveness of responses:confused:)

2" lift manufacturer? Someone might have specific knowledge of the specs of that kit... all end up slightly different...

31's on stock wheels? or aftermarket... what's the backspacing, etc...
manufacturer of the tires? (could lead to personal experience by others, or a general idea of actual diameter based on trends that we may see:confused:)

Hopefully that helps... post up a pic or two... that usually gets the interwebs buzzin'....

Running 31's with a 2inch lift will require fender trimming.

Also, depending on if you are keeping your stock wheels you will want to keep the width at the 9.5"s. You will possibly have to add some bump stops in the front and the rear, nothing major.

Now what 2" lift you planing on doing? I will assume its a spacer and shackle kit? The spacer is fine for the front but the shackle on stock springs will make them wear out faster. Something I would suggest and morethan likely it will be cheap is to get some S10 or Daktoa rear leaf springs and just use the main leaf and rebuild your stock packs. You can get the pair for usually around $50 and then extra hardware needed: new U-bolts, spring clips, and center bolts to hold the spings together. THat will run like $30 at Brighton Spring or another spring job.

Everything I've read said you need a 3" lift to clear 31x10.50. I've got a ProComp lift with AAL and 31-11.50. They rub at full turn on the front. And if I stuff them up in the back, it gets kind of tight. It's mostly for the road, so I've just learned to not turn 100%. It works good for me. Also, I've got some AR rims from a TJ. Not sure of the BS. Good Luck!

Screw it! lift it 12" and throw some 39s on there !!!!!!

But seriously you need at least 3" for 31s. depending on brand of lift and brand of tire for tha matter you may want to go ahead and buy a 3.5".
Be careful with what brands you buy for the lift.
I got rought country add-a-leaf and 3" coil spring and they bith sagged pretty quickly. I think it better tospend more money the first time then doing what i did and having to spend more cuz i have to change springs down the road.

You can adjust your steering stops to make sure you don't rub at full lock steering wise. The 31's will fit in there but you will have to sacrafice some room, either by trimming or bumpstopping to not let it hit. If you leave your sway bars on for the road you won't have any trouble mall crawlin'.

I ran 31s on my stock wheels with very very minor rubbing on the lower control arms at full turn but i did have 3" rusty's coils and fenders needed trimmed.
