Ram 48RE Cummins Dilema
Looking for a quality 48RE automatic or a local builder who can make a Dodge trans last. I have lost faith in my trans builder and am looking at Goerend, ATS and Monster. Anyone have any good info or hear of any shops that are reputable?
I have heard that idling in park for extended time will smoke the torque converter bushing if left in park. Anyone else hear this? Also using reverse with a heavy load I have smelled burning trans fluid since day 1. Truck is a 2006 Dodge Ram Cummins 4x4. I plan on towing heavy, drag racing, tractor pulling, tug of war, running hard and using an engine brake. Truck has common motor mods since it had 1000 miles on it. I have been waiting to put injectors and an air dog fuel system on it because of the stock trans. I gave the trans 60,000 miles till it would die and it is at 59,700 so last week I had the fluid changed as a last ditch effort after seeing the fluid go from pink to dark maroon and a nice smell. Today I am leaving on vacation and did a check to see the fluid is sparkling and filthy. Still taking it over jelico mountains and hope it burns. I will feel much better after it is built and am anxious to see what the power adders will do. Thanks in advance for any good input! Scott
