For that matter (shameless XJ plug) why start with IFS to begin with?

Do you need the open bed? For the work and money you'll have in it, you could build a helluvan XJ.

Hell, search hard enough, and there are still decent 'Manches out there!

Robert
Building on this info, why not buy a comanche??? They DO have a frame from the cab back unlike a cherokee if that is a worry to you. Already a solid axle D30 under the front and an 8.8 for the rear is just a junkyard away. 95% of ann parts are compatible with XJs; so parts are cheap and plentiful.

I wanted a cherokee to start with before i even bought the sammy, just everyone i talked to with a cherokee didnt give me the time of day. id still love to have one, i think they look killer!

I just think trucks are cool, dont need the bed space, just look cool.

Maybe a noob questin but wtf is a 'Manch? or am i just not saying it right and dont recoginze it? lol

That's okay, it apparently went over Jason' head, too.

They are great little trucks. The longbeds are a little much for offroading, but the shortbeds are fine, and a lot more common.

'Course, "common" is a relative term. They're definitely getting harder to find, and a lot of the ones that are left have been used hard.

But like I said, if you search hard enough, there are decent ones out there.

Robert

(Oh, and by the way, frames are way overrated! The unibody requires a little more work when mounting up stuff like bumpers, recovery, sliders, etc... But if you do it right, it'll work and hold up just fine!)

S10extremist.org is an s10/s15 website they have a whole section dealing with SAS. So they can tell you what you need to know, heck they even have plans for the crossmember for the front leaf spring mount. Check it out.

Another good thing to remember Commanche and a lot of Xj parts are swappable. Like the grill, headlights etc......

If it's not completely rusted away, that'd be a great one!
