Trailer light stays on

I needed my trailer tonight so I towed it home with the Xj. I noticed the right tail light was on very dim. I unplugged thetrailer and the light went out so I dont think it is the emergency brake battery. Any ideas?

ground issue would be the first place to check, I did have a similar problem on my xj, and it actually turned out to be the wiring harness for the trailer, on the vehicle side of it

I know its not the light itself. Its fine when hooked up to my truck. The ground thing has me confused. When you turn the jeep off, and walk to the back the light is on.
