Want to rent a 2 car trailer
We are planning a trip out to Moab in April for the Eastern Jeep Safari and looking to take out to Jeeps. Does anyone know of a place to rent a trailer?
thanks

do not know any shops that rent 2 car trailers. uncommon and insurance issues probably the reason. have a transport company haul and fly. I may go next year but not for the safari as it is too crowded to cover some ground but you will see alot of rigs!

call smith trailers in west chester... i used to rent from them years ago but i don't know if they still do it... there is also a guy that posts on CL that rents trailers... i think it is in the car parts or autos for sale section...

Having the rigs hauled out there on a semi and flying sure sounds good, but unless you have connections it's going to be pretty costly. Think of it this way...a big rig is going to be hitting close to $2,000 in fuel alone in a round trip. I regularly set up trips having other trucks trailered out west and back and even with a healthy discount it usually reaches $2,500-$4,000 for a one way trip (total for the trip, so divided up between how many rigs). The otherr issue is the schedule. The more lead time and more flexibility you give the trucking company the cheaper it is...meaning it typically cost more to have the rigs picked up on an exact day and delivered on an exact day. They usually give us the "they will pick up the truck sometime in the next 3-4 days". Point being it would be hard to coordinate the flight out there without the possibility of sitting around for a few days waiting for your rig to show up.
Keep in mind I'm mainly playing devil's advocate on this and just expressing my experience. There is definitely an advantage to not spending a week of your vacation driving there and back, but there are some issues with hiring a trucker to do this. |

We have bought all our trailers from our buddy randy at smith trailers but they do not rent 2 car trailers.
Driving out there is half the fun! You get to stop and see the worlds biggest ball of string!! hahahaha
