coilover tech..
looking for spring rate info....
anyone here run coilovers and have info to share? is spring rate determined just by the sprung weight of ur rig or by intended usage as well?( stiffer for faster ect)? why do i see the springs all the way at the top of some c/o's and on others is spun down 6-7 inches? how close or far away to keep spring rates....250 over 300 ...vs 150 over 300? thanx in advance Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

above with d5 being 45"
and d6 being 48" calculated with 18" travel at 60% droop. shocks at 10°... just seems light but if im at 2015 sprung maybe its cool....i dunno:confused: Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

is that tranny and t-case 200 each or together?
hopefully each, as i know the average auto tranny is close to 200 with a converter full of fluid, and i would put a t- case close to 100 lbs by itself, though i have never seen an atlas to know how much it would weigh. and assuming you have an all iron SBC 400, you are about 200 lbs light on it as well. just for reference, weights of different motors http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.html

chassis at 500( just under)
sbc (Dressed) @ 700 tranny and atlas at 350 two tanks ..120 two fat guys....500 radiator /fan along w ten gallons ..130 two seats...60 exhaust, steering, two coolers and their fluids 150 half of suspension/ link weight...75 Add it up and put in a bit of extra for straps, radio, cheezits....etc and call it 2700lb sprung weight Plug it in and get 123/185. Problem is that you will need to pick a compromise of rates based on what is available. Based on this, I would think about 125/175. I am a novice though. I'm better at picking out regular coil spring rates.

good:) im glad i itemized my componets for you guys to see. now i can see that i was pretty far off on my weights.
that must be why i can only pick up a sbc for 30 seconds...i just thought i was out of shape;) seriously though ...those spring numbers do sound a lil closer to average Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

you gonna run a winch that would need figured in to your weights as well?
what about front/rear distribution that would need accounted for as well.
