It was 10 years ago at least, but i have run a trail down there named 'moonshine'. Could be the same, couldn't really tell from the pictures. Seems most of the names are still the same from years ago, but they sure look like the terrain/line has changed alot on them.
Your trail report and pitures are great 78buford. Sounds like a great weekend was had by all

Moonshine was shut down last I heard...
I think he's just commenting on the feel of the obstacle from the pics... having been to both in real life... not so much. IMO Thanks for editing that Boomhauer, saved me the trouble. Well delivered Roy, well delivered.

Yeah, Moonshine is long gone.
So, I'm curious, what ever happened to the guy on 49's and rockwells?......

Thanks guys.
Kargo is correct. Moonshine has been closed for years. I tried Moonshine in 2005 with a sickly 460 engine and the truck was quite a bit heavier. I made it slightly further than others, but no one made it on that date (Easter weekend '05). While it may look similar, the "upper" Hairpin section is quite a bit wider than Moonshine was. I had a choice of lines on upper Hairpin. When I tried Moonshine in the past (the only time I was able to try), it was tight. I fit, but I didn't have any real choice of lines. It would be nice to try the old Moonshine trail with the current engine and reduced weight that I now have...but that's not in the cards. Roy

Redriver: I've never met the man...I just heard his name & rig mentioned several times. Mr. Booth said he was the last rig to climb Attention Getter, and someone in our group heard that he could not climb Last Chance (the one that none of us tried this year...because we didn't have any realistic chance of conquering it).

I heard that it was pretty rough for a while, but that he has climbed it the last two times he was on it. The last time being about a month ago. I heard he broke an extended cab window out on the tree as part of the battle, but was victorious.

I think Carwash was saying that the images of upper Hairpin look much like the former Moonshine... I was just implying (not so clearly) that the two "feel" somewhat different in real life... just opinion. Summary: RedRiverRanger is indeed "Casey," but no one knows how his extremely capable white ranger with 60's could be mistaken for "rocks on 49's." Boomhauer wants to be recognized as making Attention Getter previously... all a moot point as Buford was the last to make it... ;) 78Buford needs some sort of outlet for his literary prowess, for which we're thankful we are recipients... ps - fixed a few quotes just to make them look "pretty." forgive the edits.

I had a good time with it. I think what probably happened was "Casey was up here last time with some rigs on rocks and 49's" and it evolved to the myth that continues to grow. :o

Now that right there, was good times. Altitude definitely affects performance, even with fuel injection. Hell, the tow rigs were sick, let alone the trail rigs.
